How We Created Illustory

Once upon a time my daughter, a little first grader brought home a classroom-made book called “Imaginary Things”. Even though the cover was chopped out of construction paper and story was bound with a shoelace, my daughter Allison had truly created something magical. The story captured imaginative ideas and drawings that could only have come from a mind that never even questioned the fact that miracles were all around us. It was simple to see that the creativity behind this story was a precious thing and like any parent, I just wanted a way to preserve this treasure and to nurture her creative expression. It was only natural to envision her story in the form of a hard-cover book like those on bookstore shelves. Thus the Illustory product concept was born.

Once made available in toy stores, Illustory began to grow like Jack’s beanstalk, adding to the wave of creative activity kits that washed into the marketplace in the early 90’s. Today, hundreds of thousands of Illustory books have been produced, each a lasting tribute to a precious imagination. The times have changed, but the values that this product is founded upon are timeless. Reading, writing and creativity are deemed more important than ever in building a child’s self esteem. We believe everyone has an important story to tell and our goal is to help in that process.

We are proud to make Illustory available to you with free shipping. We offer custom gift-wrapping and premium customer service to ensure a storybook ending with every order. To have kits delivered as gifts to separate locations, simply create a new order for each address. With every kit sold, our wish goes along; live creatively ever after.
